We are delighted to have received more than £2500 to support the amazing work of the “yellow river soup kitchen” charity in Xi’an China. The money has been raised by a church parish  in Rosbach, Germany which heard about the charity through the Mandala Trust. For a couple of years the church parish was looking for a trustworthy cause to support. From our past involvememnt with the charity we can be sure that every penny will be put to its best use and make a real difference  to people in China. We will keep you informed….

Thank you from Ludoteca

Passport Day: Brazil Edition

The children at Ludoteca holding up their Brazilian flags

We are currently working with Ludoteca, a children’s centre in Peru. Our local contact there is volunteering with an NGO called Pisco Sin Fronteras, which got going after the earthquakes and mud slides which wiped out whole villages and killed many people. The project has a huge throughput of volunteers; this works well for building houses and latrines – many people, four years on, are still living in tents. The Mandala Trust are sending a total of £4000 (only £700 short in March 2011) to pay a very basic salary to a local teacher, to repair the classroom, and to buy books and equipment. This will mean that the 40 or so children who find refuge each day in Ludoteca will be able to learn as well as play.
